GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- Honda Aircraft has begun work on the North Carolina building where its $4 million light jet will be built.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported Tuesday that construction on the 250,000-square-foot building at Piedmont Triad International Airport near Greensboro should be finished in early 2011.
Company spokesman Stephen Keeney says production of the HondaJet should begin soon after that.
The first planes were originally scheduled for delivery late next year. But they won't reach customers until late 2011, following certification by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Honda has completed its headquarters building and a 187,000-square-foot research and development center. It has about 450 employees and that number should grow to more than 600 when full production begins.
