RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Gov. Timothy M. Kaine says Owens-Illinois is planning a $20 million upgrade of its James City County plant.
Kaine said Tuesday that the upgrade will improve the plant's energy efficiency and technological capabilities.
Improvements will be made over the next one to two years.
Plant manager Charles Cochrane said the upgrade will help the company be more competitive.
The plant opened in 1980 and employs 180 workers.
Owens-Illinois manufactures glass beverage containers.
