Chromcraft Laying Off 150 Workers

Furniture maker will lay off 150 workers and stop manufacturing at its Delphi, Indiana, factory by May 30, as it shifts work to Asian suppliers.

DELPHI, Ind. (AP) -- Chromcraft Revington Inc. will lay off 150 workers and stop manufacturing at its Delphi factory by May 30, as it shifts work to Asian suppliers.
 
The West Lafayette-based furniture maker plans to sell equipment at the Delphi site and use it as a warehouse and distribution center. Delphi is about 20 miles northeast of Lafayette.
 
Chromcraft also reported a net loss of $8.3 million, or $1.84 per share, for the fourth quarter of last year. That compares with a loss of $741,000, or 17 cents per share, for the same period in 2006.
 
The company has already closed or sold plants in North Carolina and South Carolina and a warehouse in Knoxville, Tenn.
