BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) — European Union regulators say they have approved Denmark's Carlsberg A/S bid to takeover part of British brewer Scottish & Newcastle PLC.
The European Commission says the Danish part of the takeover of S&N ''would not'' pose any competition concerns on Europe's beer market. It also says EU regulators are still studying the other half of the takeover of S&N by Dutch brewer Heineken NV. Under the deal Carlsberg would gain sole ownership of Baltic Beverages and S&N's French, Greek and Chinese operations.
