Supplier Strike Shuts Down Chrysler Plant

Strike by 175 workers at a supplier and a shortage of parts has shut down Chrysler's minivan plant in Windsor, Ontario.

WINDSOR, Ontario (AP) — A strike by 175 workers at a supplier has shut down Chrysler LLC's minivan plant in Windsor, Ontario.

The plant was forced to close Thursday evening because of a lack of parts. Canadian Auto Workers members at TRW Automotive walked off the job earlier in the afternoon after negotiations failed to produce a contract.

The CAW says wages are the big issues, with workers making a little over $11 an hour.

The TRW plant makes brake and suspension systems, mostly for the Chrysler facility.

Negotiations are continuing between the company and the CAW.
