JEANNETTE, Pa. (AP) — St. George Crystal has laid off 32 workers and closed its production line, and officials with the Westmoreland County glassmaker say the plant could be shut down if it isn't sold soon.
The company in Jeannette makes lead crystal stemware and candle products.
It still has 52 employees on the job, and the company plans to keep selling a substantial inventory of products for the next three to four months.
Turnaround specialist Nick Arrington says the plant's ownership group has been looking for buyers for about nine months. Arrington was appointed receiver of the company by a federal judge in Pittsburgh in June.
The company has had financial problems for about 10 months, including some employee paychecks that bounced in May.
