Pet Food Firm Moving Into Former Pork Plant

Rosen's Diversified is planning to open Performance Pet Products in South Dakota facility, which could bring 50 jobs.

MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — A new pet food plant is planned for the former Dakota Pork plant, which has been vacant for nearly two years in Mitchell.

The new operation could employ 50 people.

Rosen's Diversified Inc. of Fairmont, Minn., says it plans to open a Performance Pet Products LLC pet food and pet treat production facility.

Performance Pet Products now makes pet treats at its Minneapolis facility.

When Dakota Pork was processing ham and bacon, it employed 295 people. The plant was shut down in January 2006.
