Pet Food Company Breaks Ground On Plant

New Arkansas facility for Tennessee-based Mars Petcare U.S. will employ 200 workers and will double company's production of Cesar Canine Cuisine for small dogs.

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) — An $80 million pet food manufacturing plant coming to northwest Arkansas will begin production in 2009 and employ 200 workers.
 
Mars Petcare U.S. broke ground Tuesday on a 250,000-square-foot facility in Fort Smith that will manufacture the company's Cesar Canine Cuisine products.
 
The Tennessee-based company says the state-of-the-art facility will begin production in April 2009 and double production of its food for small dogs.
