Statton Furniture Manufacturing To Shut Down

Home and office furniture maker in Hagerstown, Md., will close next month, leaving 38 employees without jobs.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Statton Furniture Manufacturing Company will close next month.

Company president T. Hunt Hardinge III says the firm's 38 employees were told of the closing on Monday. He says sales in the past several months have dropped off "significantly."

Statton specializes in cherry home and office furniture. It has a factory in Hagerstown's south end.

A final clearance sale is set for October 11 and 12.
