HARBOUR GRACE, N.L. (CP) -- A major footwear manufacturer in Newfoundland and Labrador is expanding operations with the help of an $8-million interest-free loan from the province.
Terra Nova Shoes in Harbour Grace has completed a plant expansion that will add about 50 new positions to the current workforce of 170.
Terra Nova, which makes outdoor footwear, is a subsidiary of Kodiak Group Holdings.
The expansion in Harbour Grace was necessary for the company to relocate its other Canadian manufacturing operations to the town.
Premier Danny Williams says the company has been a major employer and mainstay of the local economy.
