Chrysler Quiet On Newark Plant

Automaker says the company has received bids for its Newark assembly plant but isn't releasing details.

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Chrysler says the company has received bids for its Newark assembly plant but isn't releasing details.

Spokeswoman Mary Beth Halprin says its too soon to identify the bidders, or the amount of the bids.

The University of Delaware says it has been in contact with Chrysler officials because it's interested in site. But a university spokesman wouldn't say if the school submitted a bid.

The plant makes Dodge Durangos and Chrysler Aspens. It is expected to close late next year.
