GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Window and door manufacturer Jeld-Wen has announced it will end manufacturing operations at its plant in Gainesville.
Company spokeswoman Teri Cline said the change was necessary due to a downturn in the housing industry. She said the facility will be used for a sales and distribution office.
Oregon-based Jeld-Wen expects to layoff about 40 employees, but Cline said the facility could reopen in the future.
Jeld-Wen purchased the Gainesville plant in December 2004.
