Sign Maker To Close S.C. Plant, Cut 60 Jobs

Tennessee-based ImagePoint says production from its Columbia, S.C., plant will move to an expanded factory in Florence, Ky., near Cincinnati.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A Tennessee sign manufacturer is closing its South Carolina plant, eliminating 60 jobs.

Knoxville-based ImagePoint says production from the Columbia plant will move to an expanded factory in Florence, Ky., near Cincinnati.

ImagePoint president Bruce Smythe says it doesn't take as long to make signs now and it is best for the company to consolidate. South Carolina employees will receive 60 days' notice, severance and help finding a new job.

ImagePoint makes signs for McDonald's, Chase Bank and most major automakers. The company employs 650 people, including 350 at its Knoxville headquarters.
