Cooper Tire Cutting Production Levels

Company cut second-quarter production at its North American facilities, blaming lower tire demand and expected shortages of certain raw materials.

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) -- Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. said Monday that it cut second-quarter production at its North American facilities, blaming lower tire demand and expected shortages of certain raw materials.

The company did not say how much it cut production or in what areas the cuts took place. The cuts are expected to cost between $12 million and $14 million, Cooper said.

Cooper Tire shares fell 4 cents to $8.25 in aftermarket trading after falling 20 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $8.29 in the regular session.
