COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Michelin North America says it will invest $90 million to expand production at its two Lexington County tire plants.
The State newspaper of Columbia reports it's unclear if the expansion and equipment upgrades announced Thursday will result in any additional jobs.
Michelin has announced $200 million in projects in Lexington County in the past 10 months.
Work is nearly complete on $110 million in projects the Greenville tiremaker announced in August. Those expansion at a passenger tire plant and an earthmover tire factory added about 35 jobs.
The plants are about six miles southwest of Lexington and employ about 1,700 people.
