Visteon Closing Mississippi Plant In 2009

Automotive parts supplier plans to close its 150-employee facility in Durant, Miss., next year as production is consolidated into other Visteon plants.

DURANT, Miss. (AP) -- Automotive parts supplier Visteon Corp. plans to close its 150-employee facility in Durant, Miss., next year.

Workers there make climate-control products and interior pieces used at Nissan North America's assembly plant in Canton, Miss., and other facilities around the country.

Visteon's Jeff Stevenson, who is the director of North American interior products, says production will be consolidated into other Visteon plants, including one in Canton.

About two-thirds of the Durant production will move to other facilities by the end of 2008. Some workers will remain until the plant closes in mid-2009.

Visteon is based in the Detroit-area community of Van Buren Township, Mich.
