3M Fined $30,000 For Alleged EPA Violations

EPA said the suspected violations were discovered during an October 2006 inspection, but the products conglomerate has since complied with requirements.

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Environmental Protection Agency said Friday 3M Co. would pay a $30,000 fine as part of an agreement over alleged clean-air violation at a Minnesota plant.

The EPA said the suspected violations were discovered during an October 2006 inspection, but the products conglomerate has since complied with requirements.

The agency said 3M violated monitoring and recordkeeping requirements for systems that control particulate emissions from machinery.
