Cabinet maker has cut about 400 jobs at two plants east of Cleveland because of the weak housing market.

MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio (AP) -- The KraftMaid cabinet maker has cut about 400 jobs at two plants east of Cleveland because of the weak housing market.

Workers at plants in Middlefield and Orwell received the layoff announcement on Friday.

A spokeswoman for the company, part of the Masco Corp. of Taylor, Mich., said Monday that some jobs could be restored if the housing market improves.

KraftMaid also has a plant in West Jordan, Utah.
