Polymer Group Closing New Jersey Factory

Plant that makes products for the hygiene and medical markets will be closed by the end of September and will put about 85 employees out of work.

BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- A factory closing in Atlantic County will put about 85 employees out of work.

The Polymer Group says its plant in the Landisville section of Buena Vista Township is to close by the end of September.

The factory makes products for the hygiene and medical markets. The company, based in Charlotte, N.C., says it is shutting the plant so capabilities are a better match with its long-term direction.

Polymer says it will provide the workers severance pay and displacement assistance.

Company vice president Dennis Norman says workers can also apply for openings at its seven other U.S. plants, but none are in New Jersey.
