Oshkosh Truck Subsidiary Gets U.S. Army Contract

Pierce Manufacturing's deal — for the production of 10 military vehicles  — worth $4.5 million; total could reach 119 vehicles with an estimated value of $56 million.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Oshkosh Truck Corp., which makes commercial and emergency vehicles, said today its subsidiary Pierce Manufacturing Inc. received a five-year, $4.5 million contract with the U.S. Army.
 
The firm fixed-price contract is with the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command for the production of 10 Oshkosh Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck platform-based Water Tender vehicles, known as HEWATTs.
 
The initial order could lead to a total of 119 vehicles with an estimated total value of $56 million. The vehicles are scheduled for delivery beginning in June.
 
The HEWATT vehicle is capable of providing rescue support and can operate under extreme conditions and in a broad range of terrain.
