WASHINGTON (AP) - Northrop Grumman Corp., the third largest defense contractor, won a $2.3 billion contract for work on two weather satellite systems, the Air Force said Monday.
The deal awarded to Northrop's space technology division based in Redondo Beach, Calif., will allow the company to make a structural engineering changes to the satellite system based on the government's request. Changes will include two additional satellites for manufacturing and development, plus an option for two more satellites, and a revised fee structure with cost, schedule and technical performance as incentives.
The company will complete the work by September 2016.
