Caterpillar Opens New Manufacturing Facility In China

Wuxi plant will produce components for Caterpillar machines and select OEMs as part of Cat’s long-term strategic plan.

BEIJING - Caterpillar announced Wednesday the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Wuxi, China, that will house Caterpillar (China) Machinery Components Co. Ltd. (CCMC), a wholly owned Caterpillar company.
 
The Wuxi plant, located in Jiangsu province in East China, will manufacture components for Caterpillar machines and for select original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
 
The new plant is part of Caterpillar’s long-term strategic plan to support manufacturing growth in China and at its operations around the world.
 
Caterpillar is currently hiring and training machinists, assemblers and other front office and support staff for the valve operations in Wuxi. The company has two other operations located in the Wuxi New District.
Jiangsu province is home to Caterpillar's flagship manufacturing facility in China, Caterpillar Xuzhou Ltd.
 
Caterpillar is also currently building a wheel loader manufacturing facility in Suzhou, also located in Jiangsu province.
 
Caterpillar, a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines, had sales and revenues of $41.517 billion in 2006.
