Praxair Distribution, Inc., a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., a producer of industrial gases, announced Wednesday its acquisition of Mittler Supply, Inc., a distributor of industrial, medical, specialty gases and related welding equipment and supplies. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Mittler, headquartered in South Bend, Ind., had sales of $73 million in 2006, and has 210 employees at its operations in Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.
Mittler Supply and its employees will be integrated as part of Praxair Distribution's 4,100 employees in North America, said Praxair Distribution President Wayne Yakich.
The acquisition of Mittler Supply is in addition to 10 other acquisitions of independent distributors that Praxair Distribution has made in the U.S and Canada over the past 12 months.
Praxair Inc. had 2006 sales of $8.3 billion.
