Advance Auto Parts, Inc., an automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories and maintenance items, announced plans Tuesday to operate a new distribution facility in Remington, Ind.

The new distribution center will serve Advance’s growing store base in the Midwest. The company expects the facility to open in summer 2008.

Advance anticipates creating approximately 600 new jobs to support the facility’s operations at full capacity.

“We are very excited about welcoming Advance Auto Parts to the Hoosier state,” Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels said. “We have worked hard to create a competitive environment for businesses like Advance to succeed in, and I believe Advance will be pleased with the work ethic and productivity of our Indiana culture. We will do all we can to make this investment pay off beyond your expectations.”
