Esterline Technologies Corp., a specialized manufacturing company, said Tuesday an explosion at its United Kingdom-based Wallop Defence Systems unit killed one person and left several others with minor injuries.
The facility will be closed until British safety regulators complete an investigation into the cause of the blast.
Esterline, which acquired the division in March, said the explosion Monday destroyed an oven complex used to produce military countermeasure flares, but that the complex was not connected to the main production plant.
