Jacobs To Help Build PVC Plant In India

Plant will be built on greenfield site in southern India.

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. said Thursday it received a contract from Chemplast Sanmar Limited to provide engineering, procurement assistance, and construction management services for a 160,000-tons-per-annum polyvinylchloride (PVC) plant.

Officials did not disclose the contract value, but the total investment is approximately $110 million. The PVC plant will be constructed at a greenfield site at Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, in southern India, and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2008.

The plant will produce primarily four grades of S- PVC but is being designed to produce the full range of PVC grades as necessary to satisfy market requirements. INEOS Vinyls, U.K is the process licensor.
