Eastman Sells Arkansas Specialty Chemicals Plant

Facility, related assets and product lines were sold for $75 million.

Eastman Chemical Co. said Wednesday that it has completed the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary, Eastman SE, Inc., to FutureFuel Corp. Eastman’s Batesville, Ark. manufacturing facility and its assets and product lines are included in the sale.

The Batesville facility employs 400 employees, manufactures specialty organic chemicals and is heavily involved in the biodiesel market. The sale was completed for $75 million.

Other Eastman sites will continue to manufacture products used in the fine chemicals market, including complex organic molecules for fibers and food and beverage ingredients, as well as personal care and pharmaceutical ingredients.
