PACCAR Building $400 Million U.S. Manufacturing Facility

Company notes strong demand for Peterbilt, Kenworth trucks.

PACCAR, noting strong demand for its DAF, Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks, said Wednesday it plans to build a new $400 million powertrain manufacturing and assembly facility in the Southeast United States.

Construction will begin in mid-2007 and is expected to be complete in 2009.

“The 400,000-square-foot facility strengthens PACCAR’s global manufacturing and assembly capability and positions PACCAR to capitalize on growing opportunities in North America, Europe and Asia,” said Mark Pigott, chairman and chief executive officer.

The company said the plant will be its most technologically advanced facility and will be configured for maximum flexibility to supply products and components to PACCAR facilities and customers on a global basis.
