Trelleborg Moving Industrial Tire Production To Sri Lanka

Company will invest more in Sri Lanka plant and move production from Hartville, Ohio to Sri Lanka.

Trelleborg said Monday it is consolidating its industrial tire production and will relocate production of industrial tires from Trelleborg Wheel Systems’ plant in Hartville, Ohio, to a plant in Sri Lanka.

The investment in Sri Lanka is worth approximately $14.4 million.

The tire production will be transferred to Sri Lanka by 2008 and production in Hartville is expected to end in the first quarter of 2009.

The Hartville plant has 200 employees, 115 of which work in production.

The Trelleborg Group has annual sales of about $3.5 billion and 23,000 employees in 40 countries. The Group is divided into five business areas: Trelleborg Automotive, Trelleborg Wheel Systems, Trelleborg Engineered Systems, Trelleborg Building Systems and Trelleborg Sealing Solutions.
