Chinese Auto Maker To Revive English Brand MG By 2008, Build Oklahoma Plant

Nanjing Automobile Corp plans to reintroduce cars in China and Europe first, then U.S.

Nanjing Automobile Corp. will build a plant in Oklahoma for its plans to revive the English brand MG. 

According to company president and chief executive Duke T. Hale, a manufacturing facility and parts distribution center will be located at Ardmore Air Park, Oklahoma City will be headquarters for sales, marketing, and distribution, and a research and development facility will be at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

The plans for Oklahoma are part of newly formed MG Motors strategy to build vehicles in Nanjing, China, and resume production at the Longbridge assembly plant in England.

The cost of the Oklahoma plant is currently unknown, and the MG is expected to be introduced in China and Europe first, followed by the U.S. in the third quarter of 2008.
