Timken Launching Aerospace Manufacturing Center In China

Center will employ 200 people in aerospace products manufacturing.

Timken said Wednesday it will open a new aerospace precision products center in Chengdu, China.

The center will employ approximately 200 people in aerospace products manufacturing. Eventually, it is expected to include sales, engineering support and customer service capabilities for a range of aerospace bearings and other precision products.

This will be the sixth Chinese plant for Timken and will manufacture ball and cylindrical roller bearings up to 12 inches in diameter. The first product shipment is anticipated in late 2007.

The company’s China headquarters is in Shanghai, and it has invested in five large-scale manufacturing sites in Wuxi, Yantai, and Suzhou.
