According to the NY Daily News, it took Universal Studios chef Steve Jayson three years to perfect the fictional butterbeer drink from the Harry Potter series for the theme park’s Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. To ensure that most fans could try the beverage, Jayson left out dairy, so essentially the drink is a butter-free butterbeer. Author J.K. Rowling also requested that no high fructose corn syrup be included, so the treat only contains real sugar. Jayson said it took 15 to 16 tries before the drink was perfect.
