Owens-Corning Closes Fiberglass Plant

Ridgeway, S.C.-based fiberglass plant that makes fabric used to reinforce circuit boards and other products shuts down.

RIDGEWAY, S.C. (AP) — Owens-Corning says it is closing a fiberglass plant in Ridgeway, leaving about 50 workers without a job.

Company spokesman Jason Saragia told The (Columbia) State that the Fairfield County plant overlaps production at other U.S. locations.

The Ridgeway plant makes fabric used to reinforce circuit boards and other products. Owens-Corning is the third owner of the plant in five years.

Saragia says Owens-Corning also is closing a plant in New Braunfels, Texas, with 120 workers. The jobs will be moved to plants in Brunswick, Maine, and Wichita Falls, Texas.
