Siemens AG, the large German engineering conglomerate, said Friday its power generation division, which makes turbine generators and power plant equipment, bought privately held Advanced Burner Technologies Inc., expanding the unit's product line to include burners for coal-fired steam generators.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ABT, based in Pluckemin, N.J., is one of several recent acquisitions aimed at expanding Siemens' offering of market-driven solutions for cleaner, more efficient power generation products and services. In 2004, Siemens acquired Bonus Energy A/S. In October 2005, Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control, Inc. was brought into the company, and most recently, Siemens Power Generation acquired Sustec Group for its technology for converting coal cleanly for electricity generation.
"This acquisition simplifies business for many of our joint customers, who will now have a single point of contact for many of their plant operations and maintenance services, including the effective integration of service for their turbines, fuel combustion equipment and air emissions control technologies," said Craig Weeks, president, Siemens Power Generation Fossil Service Division.In fiscal 2005, Siemens PG posted sales of more than EUR8 billion and received new orders totaling EUR11 billion.
