Kimberly-Clark To Add 100 Jobs

Consumer products maker Kimberly-Clark Corp. now plans to add 100 jobs to its facility in the Arkansas town during the next three years.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) -- The Conway Development Corp. says consumer products maker Kimberly-Clark Corp. now plans to add 100 jobs to its facility in the Arkansas town during the next three years.

Kimberly-Clark had said in July it would spend $25 million to expand its Conway plant and add 40 jobs there. But Jamie Gates, Conway Development Corp.'s vice president for governmental affairs, said Monday those plans have been upgraded and the company now will spend $65 million and add 100 jobs.

The plant currently makes feminine hygiene products and employs about 500 workers. The expansion will add capacity for products not now produced by Kimberly-Clark in the U.S.

Mayor Tab Townsell says such an expansion "is unheard of in this economy" and that the city treasures its relationship with Kimberly-Clark.
