KEWANEE, Ill. (AP) -- Officials say more than 50 workers at a soil and asphalt equipment maker plant in central Illinois are locked out over a contract dispute.
WHBF-TV reports that BOMAG Americas in Kewanee has proposed a final contract offer that has some raises, but also eliminates a workers' incentive plan.
The proposal also reduces union bargaining options and freezes the pension.
Union members hope the company will come back next week with a better offer.
In a statement, the company says it has the right to hire replacement workers and might do so if necessary.
At least one worker says it's worth standing up a better contract, even though it's tough not being on the job.
