PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) -- Technology products and services company Hewlett-Packard Co. said Tuesday that it has named Bill Veghte as chief strategy officer.
Veghte will continue to serve in his current job as executive vice president of HP software. HP said Veghte will "work with HP's senior business and technology leaders to help define the IT industry's future and make certain HP continues to lead the way."
Veghte joined HP in 2010. Before that, he spent two decades at Microsoft Corp., where he most recently managed the company's Windows business, HP said.
HP's previous chief strategy officer, Shane Robison, retired last fall after 11 years with the company. Robison was also chief technology officer and a member of the company's executive council.
Shares of Hewlett-Packard slide 12 cents to $26.34 in after-hours trading after closing down 4 cents at $26.46.
