Boeing To Build Dreamliner 787 Parts Plant In S.C.

The world's second-largest commercial aircraft maker said Monday that it will make and assemble interior parts in South Carolina for its long-awaited Dreamliner 787 airliner.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Boeing Co. said Monday that it will make and assemble interior parts in South Carolina for its long-awaited Dreamliner 787 airliner.

The world's second-largest commercial aircraft maker said it expects to determine by the middle of the summer where it will locate the new plant.

Boeing said the facility will be near its final assembly and delivery site in North Charleston, and that up to 150 employees will work there making parts like stow bins, closets and partitions.

Boeing shares rose $1.80, or 2.5 percent, to $74.23 in afternoon trading.
