AMD: Justice Department Closes Graphics Probe

Advanced Micro Devices said the Justice Dept. closed an investigation into the pricing and marketing practices of graphics chip maker ATI Technologies, which AMD owns.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said Monday the Justice Department informed the chip maker it closed an investigation into the pricing and marketing practices of graphics chip maker ATI Technologies, which AMD owns.

No action was taken in connection with the investigation, AMD said.

AMD had said in late 2006 it received a subpoena from the Justice Department related to a probe into possible antitrust violations at the graphics processors and cards business. The company purchased ATI for $5.4 billion earlier that year.
