OTTAWA (CP) -- Mosaid Technologies Inc. has reached a five-year patent licensing deal with Japanese electronics giant Sharp Corp., which will get non-exclusive rights to certain wireless communications technology.
Sharp will make a fixed payment for the licence, which is effective April 1. Other terms of the agreement, including how much Mosaid will receive for the licence, are confidential.
"Sharp is the third manufacturer of Wi-Fi enabled handsets to license Mosaid's wireless patents, and we anticipate continued success in licensing into this important market," John Lindgren, Mosaid's president and CEO, said Monday.
Mosaid, which makes its money from licensing patents to other companies, shares gained 35 cents to $23.61 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
