German Electronic Orders Rise 10 Percent

Trade group ZVEI says Germany's electronics industry's order intake is up 10 percent in January compared with a year earlier.

FRANKFURT (AP) -- German trade group ZVEI says the country's electronics industry's order intake is up 10 percent in January compared with a year earlier.

The ZVEI said Monday domestic orders for the month are up 7 percent while international orders are 14 percent higher than January 2009 levels.

However, the group says revenue is 2 percent below January 2009 levels even though international revenue showed an increase for the first time since April 2008.

The group says 30 percent of surveyed companies expect their business to increase in the next six months.
