Nova Scotia Firm Plans New Manufacturing Facility

Electronics case maker Protocase’s new manufacturing facility will enable it to expand its export business and create up to 139 new jobs.

SYDNEY, N.S. (CP) - A Cape Breton company plans to build a new manufacturing facility, expand its export business and create up to 139 new jobs over the next five years.
 
Protocase Inc. announced plans Monday to erect a new building in the Harbourside Commercial Park with the help of a $1.2-million loan from the province.
 
GrowthWorks Atlantic Venture Fund is also investing $1.1 million in the $2.65-million project.
 
Protocase began manufacturing steel cases for electronics six years ago.
 
It currently has 30 employees and has outgrown the old building.
