Ford to Stop Taking Orders for 2022 Maverick

It couldn't keep up with demand.

Ford announced it would no longer take retail orders for the 2022 Maverick.

According to Reuters, the automaker cited the issue of not possessing the capacity to match demand.

The last date to place an order is Jan. 27, but some may be able to be bought at a Ford dealer.

Ford launched the compact pickup truck in June 2021 and began sales in the fall with both hybrid and non-hybrid versions.

The hybrid version carries a starting price of approximately $20,000.

CNN Business reports Ford did not disclose how many Maverick orders it has gathered.

In August, before the vehicle went on sale, Ford said it had collected 100,000 orders.

Ford will restart the ordering process for the 2023 Maverick in the summer.
