NVision (Coppell, TX) offers the non-contact HandHeld scanner, a portable device designed to capture 3-D geometry of varying size. Attached to a mechanical arm that moves about the object, it allows the user to capture data with a high degree of resolution. The NVision MAXOS measurement system then uses a proprietary non-contact probe consisting of a concentrated light to collect individual points. According the company, the MAXOS collects individual points at a rate of 100 per second, it provides accuracy of +/- 0.0004", and can provide resolution as low as 0.00001”.
