Get Trapped For Safety

Castell’s (Erlanger, KY) portfolio of trapped key interlocks and loading dock guarding systems has been added to Tapeswitch’s product lineup, now available in the U.S. The interlocks ensure personnel follow a predetermined sequence of tasks to control process risks by locking valves, actuators, switches, doors, or entire processes until the correct key is used.

By utilizing trapped key systems, a process can only be unlocked when the previous one is completed. In addition, the interlocks help prevent dangerous situations by forcing employees to wait until a machine finishes its cycle — a manufacturing robot, for example — before entering its vicinity or performing maintenance.

In addition, Castell’s Salvo system prevents trucks from driving away during loading or unloading. The gladhand lock attaches to a trailer’s brake line, releasing a uniquely-coded key. The control panel responsible for the gladhand lock will not disengage until loading or unloading has been completed.
