The Paul N. Gardner Company, Inc. (Gardco — Pompano Beach, FL) developed the MiniTest 70 Series for quick and easy non-destruction coating thickness measurement. It is available in two models:
- The MiniTest 70 F, with a built-in sensor for measuring non-magnetic coatings applied on steel.
- The MiniTest 70 FN, with a built-in dual sensor for non-magnetic coatings applied on steel and insulating coatings on non-ferrous metals.
Both models offer detection of non-magnetic coatings on steel (0-120mils / 0-3,000μm) and automatic identification of the substrate material. A four-button operation, clear display, and built-in statistics display the number of readings taken, the minimum, maximum, mean values, and standard deviation. No special training is required to operate the gages — an audible signal confirms reading acquisition.
