Gas Detection Gets Durable

Detcon (The Woodlands, TX) has improved its Model PI-700 Photo-ionization gas detection sensor to better manage humidity drift and surface contamination, making it more reliable and durable. The Model PI-700 is a sensor that can detect and monitor a wide range of volatile organic compounds and toxic gases in the air.

In response to common problems with photo-ionization sensors, Detcon has added a secondary filter, which helps minimize humidity changes and prevents heavy complex airborne VOC modules from contact the PID sensor. Proper use of the secondary filter can extend the time between required sensor cleanings and/or placement, according to the company. The whole assembly is encased in an electro-polished 316 stainless steel vault.
