Castell’s (Erlanger, KY) portfolio of trapped key interlocks and loading dock guarding systems has been added to Tapeswitch’s product lineup, now available in the U.S. The interlocks ensure personnel follow a predetermined sequence of tasks to control process risks by locking valves, actuators, switches, doors, or entire processes until the correct key is used. By utilizing trapped key systems, a process can only be unlocked when the previous one is completed. In addition, the interlocks help prevent dangerous situations by forcing employees to wait until a machine finishes its cycle – a manufacturing robot, for example – before entering its vicinity or performing maintenance, explains the company.
