Randstad Earns National Safety Council Safety Standard of Excellence

As a result of  their commitment to safety in the workplace, Randstad US earned the Safety Standard of Excellence Mark developed by the American Staffing Association and the National Safety Council to promote industry-wide safety best practices.

ATLANTA — Randstad US, one of the largest HR services and staffing companies in the United States, prioritizes the need for safety controls to be put forth in the workplace to positively impact its employees, clients’ employees and the community. As a result of  their commitment to safety in the workplace, Randstad earned the Safety Standard of Excellence Mark (SSE) developed by the American Staffing Association (ASA) and the National Safety Council to promote industry-wide safety best practices.

By participating in the SSE program, staffing companies, their temporary workers and host employers can build a mutually beneficial relationship to help identify and mitigate workplace hazards and exposures, ensure clear communication between the staffing firm and host employer, and clearly delineate the safety responsibilities of each party — all intended to reduce temporary and contract employee injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

Randstad provides rigorously screened talent to fill key roles at every stage of the manufacturing, shipping and logistics process for organizations in over 350 U.S. markets. As a leader in manufacturing and logistics staffing and on-site talent management solutions, Randstad gives clients access to a team of experts and resources to help navigate all matters related to safe operations through its complementary Safety Smart program:

  • Safety and risk consulting to minimize injuries and mitigate potential risks to reduce injury-related costs.
  • Guidance related to Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP), with the intentions of reducing workplace incidents, documented injuries and lost performance.
  • Outline and apply behavioral-based safety programs to essentially improve business risk analysis and employee morale.
  • Assistance in incident investigation and claim examination to establish corrective actions.

“Beyond the clear benefits of reduced costs associated with safety and compliance issues, creating a safe work environment is also critical to an organization’s ability to effectively recruit and retain skilled workers,” said Traci Fiatte, CEO, Professional and Commercial Staffing, Randstad US. “Not all staffing companies have the same policies, resources or commitment to safety as Randstad. We believe continued safety in the workplace requires ongoing attention to detail and the Safety Standard of Excellence Mark demonstrates Randstad’s dedication.”

“ASA congratulates Randstad for its commitment to protecting and enhancing temporary worker safety, and for being among the first to earn the Safety Standard of Excellence mark” said Stephen C. Dwyer, Esq., ASA general counsel. “Randstad has tangibly demonstrated to clients, candidates, and employees its commitment to safety best practices.”

“Companies participating in the Safety Standard of Excellence program are to be commended for taking steps to put their companies’ practices under the microscope and seeking to be the best they can be for their temporary workers,” said Amy Harper, Ph.D., National Safety Council director of workplace initiatives and Journey to Safety Excellence. “The commitment to safety demonstrated through Safety Standard of Excellence program participation should speak volumes to the clients with whom these staffing firms do business.”
