3M has expanded its personal safety portfolio to include a new controlled descent device for escape and rescue at height, called the 3M and DEUS Escape and Rescue System. The innovative new system enables workers to steadily descend from heights up to 590 feet, and is an all-purpose rescue solution. The entire system weighs less than three pounds and is easy to use, which is crucial in a rescue situation where time is of the essence. Additionally, the system can be used to facilitate the rescue of multiple workers in a short period of time. The new system is available with two controlled descent device options – the 3300 device and the 3700 device. The 3300 device allows for rescue from heights up to 350 feet, at a descent rate of 3 meters/second (9.8 feet/second), making it ideally suited for situations where time is of the essence. The 3700 device has been third-party tested and certified to the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standard and offers users a descent rate of 2 meters/second (6.6 feet/second) from heights up to 590 feet. The addition of DEUS products extends the 3M portfolio of fall-arrest equipment, including harnesses, connecting and anchorage devices, horizontal and vertical lifelines and confined space equipment.
